The Chainsmokers and their new song “Sick Boy”
The Chainsmokers have always had upbeat music that relates to many things this generation experiences such as romance, and relationship problems. In the couple short years, they have been around, the Chainsmokers have released a few top chart hits such as “Roses,” “Paris,” “Something just like this,” “Closer,” and “Don’t let me down.” Their hits have all made it to the top of the charts, and they have had success with the content they sing about, but they decided for their next album, they wanted to change it up and give it a darker spin.
Their new song “Sick boy” was written as a reflection of how they were feeling at the moment and a reflection of the dark tone of this generation for the time being. Both Alex and Andrew have had some negative experiences in their fame. They wanted others to know how it feels for them because people have an idea of who they are, which is a false representation of who they actually are. They put both the criticism and the crazy side of it all into their new music. Their next couple of songs are going to be different than their previous hits.
“Sick boy” also represents what it’s like to be a young person in this generation, and what it’s like to live up to others with apps such as Instagram and the popularity that comes with it. They point out that some people have jobs on Instagram, and not that it is a bad thing, but just to show what it’s like to live in this new dark generation.
The chainsmokers have a lot of new music coming out, but it will not be like the rest of their hits. They took a new spin, and they’re hoping that others can relate to it.
